Her father was a successful businessman Joseph Anthony Germanotta Jr. Director of a network company. She was born and raised as a Catholic in the city of Manhattan's Upper East Side. In order to avoid the pitfalls of this lifestyle, her parents decided to enroll in the Convent of the Sacred Heart which is a revered and prestigious school. Since she was young she was an avid music fan. She was able to play the piano in the very beginning and composed her first solo song at the age of thirteen. She was a participant in open mic nights. The singers she admired were queen Michael Jackson Madonna, David Bowie. She was a student at the Tisch School of Art of New York University after completing her secondary schooling. She didn't complete her education. Instead, she began the career path of a musician.
